Season 3 Episode 2: Nurturing biodiversity across our green spaces
Monday Nov 27, 2023
Monday Nov 27, 2023
At present, our natural world is fading fast and only 50% of UK biodiversity remains. The relationships people have with nature are what will make the difference for the future of our green spaces, and our planet.
Suzi Kemp, our Communications Officer, talks to two of our rangers, Tristan and Jake, about how Earth Trust looks after biodiversity and how we engage people in hands-on stewardship of green spaces with tree planting, hedge laying, and caring for soils.
From school kids to senior citizens, we need all kinds of everyday heroes to replant, restore, and reconnect people with the special places where nature thrives.
This #GivingTuesday week, you can be a champion for nature and help nurture our precious green spaces by supporting our Christmas Appeal: www.earthtrust.org/appeal

Season 3 Episode 1: Celebrating soil, picking pumpkins and squashing waste
Friday Oct 13, 2023
Friday Oct 13, 2023
Whether splashing in it, harvesting food from it or handling it; mud makes humans happier at every age. So, this half term, join us down on the farm at Earth Trust to get your boots muddy and your hands grubby as we have fun with our favourite autumn harvest. With the help of our volunteers, we have been busy growing a wide range of squash and pumpkins of every size, shape and colour – beautiful to look at, and incredibly delicious.
In this episode, Verity talks to Amy and Stuart (our Public Programmes Manager and Environmental Education Manager) to find out how we're welcoming visitors to our pumpkin patch, and revisits a conversation from last year about why looking after our soils and making careful choices about the food we consume is so important.
This podcast is part of our Thank the Earth season reminding us all to value the earth beneath our feet, and all that it provides.

Verity talks to Jayne Manley, Earth Trust CEO about why Earth Trust is launching a new membership scheme to become a stronger voice for championing green spaces for everyone.
We caught up with Jayne in the middle of a busy day via a slightly dodgy online link- so sound quality is less than perfect! But Jayne has an important message to share about the value of working together to support nature in addressing, climate, biodiversity and wellbeing.

Connecting people to nature
Monday Apr 17, 2023
Monday Apr 17, 2023
In this episode, we talk to Anna Wilson, Earth Trust's Head of Experience & Engagement about Growing Places - a pilot project to explore the potential for engaging people facing disadvantage with their local green spaces.
The pilot was delivered with Aspire Oxfordshire, and seed funded by Chilterns and North Wessex Downs AONBs (Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty) as part of the ‘Mend the Gap’ fund.
The Earth Trust community are guardians of some extremely special and inspiring places in South Oxfordshire, rich in nature and heritage - including the iconic Wittenham Clumps, and community reserves in urban areas. We use these amazing places to engage and inspire people and to demonstrate nature-based solutions that we hope others will take and use elsewhere.
